5. Operation instruction
1. Before attempting to fight a fire with a fire extinguisher, it is very important to check if it is fully charged and that the safety pin is not bent. And make sure you remain a safe distance from the fire and remove the safety pin this will break the tamper seal
2. Aiming the extinguisher:
a) Solid Materials: Aim the hose at the base of the flames, moving across the area of the fire
b) Spilled liquids: Aim the hose at the near edge of the fire and with a rapid sweeping motion; drive the fire towards the far edge until all the flames have been extinguished
c) Flowing liquid: Direct the hose at the base of the flames and sweep upwards until all the flames have been extinguished
d) Electrical equipment: Switch off the power (if safe to do so) and then direct the hose straight at the fire
3. Squeeze the lever slowly to begin discharging the extinguisher, as the fire starts to diminish carefully move closer to it.
6. Application
Powder fire extinguishers are ideal for use in mixed risk environments and offer excellent all round fire protection. With a unique class C rating, powder fire extinguishers are the only effective solution for fires involving flammable gases.
7. Rules for Fighting Fires
Fires can be very dangerous and you should always be certain that you will not endanger yourself or other people when attempting to put out a fire. For this reason, when a fire is discovered:
1.SOUND THE ALARM. If you find or suspect a fire, sound the building fire alarm system. If there is no alarm, warn the other occupants by knocking on doors and shouting as you leave.
2.LEAVE THE BUILDING. Try to save other people only if you can do so safely. Get away from the fire building and out of the way of the fire scene. Do not go back into the building until the fire department says it is safe to do so.
3.CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. Call the Fire Phone timely. Provide as much information as possible to the emergency dispatcher.
